Now that I've gotten over my team's most bumbling performance of the year, I wanted to propose something to you guys that we can play after the season is over. I don't know if you all play this already but here goes:
For the last couple of years, my buddies and I have been doing a fantasy draft based on NFL playoff teams only. I do it with 5 other guys but it can work with 12 of us. We'll all pick 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 Def.
Scoring can be the same as it is in this league, except that it won't be head to head. The team with the most total points after the super bowl is the winner. That way there is some strategy to picking players who are on teams you believe will advance versus studs on teams that you know will lose in week 1.
I can keep score by hand and post the results up on this website week to week.
What do you guys think?

We do the same thing only you must pick (1) player from each playoff team. We pick (2) QB's, (3) RB's, (4) wr's, (1) TE, (1) K and (1) D. Players can (and certainly will) be selected by more than (1) team. An example of this lasy year was everyone playing selected LT as one of their RB's. Although there are similarities no one ever seems to pick the same (12). The idea is each week everyone will lose (2) players. Highest point total at the end is the winner!

My big money league has the exact playoff game that TD Machine is suggesting . . . it can be a big pick me up for a team that had a bad year . . . 1st is $180, 2nd is $100 and 3rd is $50 in a 10-team league. The funds are part of the entry fee distribution. I could see having some fun with something like this in the USFL . . . we could come up with a prize of some sort for the winner . . . or a punishment for the biggest loser it would have to be something that wouldn't impact the league too much but is worth having. Any suggestions? Maybe something like the winner of the playoff challenge gets the chance one time before March 1st to pick up a FA during the roster lock period. No rookies allowed. Or maybe they are awarded an extra supplemental draft pick at the end of the 4th round/beginning of the 5th round. Or in the award/punishment category the winner gets the worst scorer's last pick in the draft for free. There could be conditions on that for participation and playing would not be required. So yeah, that last one could get complicated . . . and there are probably other considerations I am not thinking of . . . any ideas?

If everyone is down for playing with a reward, I like the supplemental pick idea. I'd even say a pick in the 3rd round is fair for the winner. I know Crush doesn't come on here often, but we can get him in on this right?

I'm up for the challenge! Bring it.
Let me know if we need more input. It sounds like most of the framework is set though.

The only draw back to what TD Machine suggested vs. what I suggested, is in TD Machines case we will need to do a draft, which may prove to be a pain in the ass over the holidays? My approach just has everyone picking players and forwarding a list prior to a deadline, might be way easier to get accomplished, both the same thing!
I could care less which way, I just want to do it, I can easily go either way, just someone make a call!!

Why don't we just put a league together on NFL.com with their Playoff Challenge?
A chance to win Superbowl tickets + a supplemental draft pick for the winner?
A bunch of guys from my money usually will play in that league anyway, but when someone creates a team/league I believe you can send invites and make it a private league.
No draft... every player is available to everyone. Same idea as Fog City's league... you can only make so many changes because each week the players from the eliminated teams are gone too.
Sound good?

Good idea. I'm up for whatever anyone else wants.
One question. When will the Scott Norwood Wide Rights replace Phish's old team name (who will remain nameless) on the message board, ESPN site, etc.
Thanks!!

All bets are not official until the end of the 2008 season which concludes with our Championship game this weekend. I misunderstood TD Machine's post . . . I planned for every player to be available to every team. I like Phish's idea with the nfl.com playoff challenge league, though that will cause us all to have another things we sign up for. The last thing to haggle over is where the supplemental draft picks lies . . . I could really use a 12th

I'm good with the idea that we can pick whomever we like. Should we do it on yahoo then?

I like Phish's idea with the nfl.com playoff challenge league, though that will cause us all to have another things we sign up for. I just figured it would be the simplest way to go about it. You mean to tell me you guys have never registered on NFL.com? Tsk tsk
