Many of you have the ability to figure out when guys are going to be cut loose from their contracts, for example lets use someone who has a few years left and is always injured( a good example for someone that might be cut) www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2265how do i read this information, and is there a better website that can give me clearer financials

I let guys like Adam Sheffter, Steve Wyche, John Clayton, and Chris Mortensen ferret out these details and sit on my lazy ass and listen (i.e. I pay attention to the rumor mill). Also, especially with RB's, teams tend to load up the rear of the the aging RB's contacts with non-guaranteed high salaries (as shown on the Magahee contract you attached). Look for LT, Westy, Magahee and Thomas Jones to be cut/released this offseason. They are owed no or very little guaranteed money and their base salaries are prohibitively height so they are released. The RB's know this, the teams know this games; its the fans who take solace in their favorite player being "locked up for years". Its just smoke and mirrors. Also, if someone is still owed alot of guaranteed money, they generally will not be released until the majority of it is paid out. That is because all of the remaining guaranteed money is paid upon termination of the contract. This upcoming year may be the exception if a new labor deal is agreed upon and 2010 becomes an uncapped year. In "normal" years, a team would take a massive cap hit on paying out this guaranteed money and getting nothing back for it (other than saving the player's base salary for the current and upcoming years). Another indicator that a player may be released is if a player is owed a "roster bonus" that's obscenely high for what they bring to the team. See Derek Andersen this year and T.O. in years past. If the team doesn't release the player, then they have essentially invested in the player for the upcoming year and that player won't be cut. You'll often see teams try and peddle a Javon Walker because he's owed a $3million dollar roster bonus on the first day of the league year (March 1) or some other date per their contract. Teams will try to get a late round pick. Inevitably, the team just releases the player and they resign with another team or that team to avoid the roster bonus payment. Again, the reporters tend to ferret out all of these details and I just listen and store it away in the memory bank. Hope that helped.

Actually, I don't use Rotoworld or any website for that purpose.
When I'm tapping into my legendary hunching abilities, I put a couple of cups of lukewarm water in a bowl, add 2 drops of canola oil and 2 drops of vinegar... then I wait for a name to appear... and voila!
My recipe for superb coaching decisions! LOL

Adam Schefter happens to be an awesome source of inside knowledge.
As for McGahee, he is certainly expensive considering the emergence of Rice. However, 3.6 million next year is certainly feasible for the Ravens for a strong backup/committee RB, especially in an uncapped year. Expect McGahee to either have his contract reworked for the 2011 year or be released after 2010.
