I'm starting with an apology if I offend anyone... Hockey SUCKS!!! I tried to watch the game. I find hockey one of the most Boring sports. I know it takes stamina and coordination, but it is boring. I turned it off. And when I heard that the US lost in OT for a mili second I wished I watched, then remembered it was hockey!

I love the boring statement. Hockey, unlike football, actually has action the entire time the clock is running.

I know, Chris! That is the messed up part about it. I guess i have a problem with the collisions when the puck is gone and they are just slamming each other into the boards to just send messages. I like the finesse of the passes. I just didn't see it in this game which was like an all-star game. It seemed very sloppy to me, but I don't watch enough so...

Does anyone know where Bill is? He's been quiet lately. If you hear from him, please pass along this message:
Who dat, who dat, who dat say they gonna beat them Canadians!
;D
P.S. I apologize for the delay. I wanted to rub a little salt in the wound a couple of days ago, but I moved this weekend and just got my internet hooked up today.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not trying to pick a fight because hockey isn't even my favorite sport to watch. You gotta explain your thought process though. I'm sure you enjoy it when football players throw a hit on a guy that doesn't have possession of the ball... how is that any different in hockey? That's just the strangest reason that I've ever heard from someone who doesn't like hockey, and yet is a football fanatic. The difference between the gold medal game and an all star game is the intensity. Everyone is going at full speed in the olympics, that 3rd period and OT was awesome!

Although admittedly not a hockey fan either (although I enjoy a Sharks game 2-3 times per year, usually involving drinking too much (Like Rob)) I was sucked in after the first game against Canada.
I actually listened to the entire game against the Fins and was feeling pretty good about last Sunday, up until they (Canadians) jumped out to a 2-0 lead. When they tied it up with 24 ticks left in the game I really thought the U-S-A could get it done, too bad!
As everyone has said, we are completely happy with the outcome, whereas you Canadians would have been reaching for the razor blades to slit your wrists!
Overall, I enjoyed the whole experience, and would like to get over to Canada to check it out, I've never been there to date. Vancouver looks pretty SWEET, not sure how Toronto stacks up (Or Halifax (wherever the hell you hang out Derek??))
Cheers, looking forward to the DRAFT now!

I'll stop gloating now, it's all good. I just hope you've learned your lesson. Never talk smack to a Canadian about hockey! LOL If I'm being honest, I should almost be ashamed with the amount of hockey I watch these days. I stick to the playoffs for the most part now. I'd rather watch the combine than a regular season game. Hockey was the only sport that mattered when I was young though. I used to work for the now defunct Winnipeg Jets farm team in the AHL, the Moncton Hawks. That was a pretty big deal back in the day. I got to meet a lot of players, including some from the 70's when the oldtimer's came to town. The last thing I'll say about hockey is this: Olympic hockey is very good. The Russians, Czechs, Fins, Swedes, Americans and even Slovakia are capable of beating anyone. But the Canada vs USA games might have been better than some of the best playoff games I've ever seen. And to have the local boy Sidney Crosby score the winner, it doesn't get much better than that. Especially if you live where I do. Bill, you're right. We expect to win the gold each and every time. The same could be said about you folks south of the border in Olympic basketball, you expect to win. I've never been to Vancouver, but that's where I'd like to be. The west coast is pretty sweet. Good climate, ocean and not far from the Rockies. Toronto is nice to visit, lots to do there. But I'd recommend Vancouver any day and thrice on Sundays over Toronto. Halifax isn't half the size of either of those places. It's nice, but much smaller. Can we start drafting yet? LOL

Windsor has a lot of cool bars, especially with all the drunk 19 year old chicks from Michigan. Anywhere in Canada along Lake Huron is very scenic and a great getaway area. Unfortunately, stupid terrorists ruined the quick and easy passage across the border, so I haven't been in a while. Trying to avoid those full cavity searches. ;D Oh, and I got over the USA loss long before the medals were presented. How long would it have taken for Canadians to get over a loss in that game? I just hate that Crosby had to score that goal off of a blown defense by Rafalski. Now I will have to hear about that shit for a long time, even though it was practically given to him.

I can't explain it. In football you block someone from getting to the ball or player. In hockey you hit a player who has already passed the puck away. They let a fight break out between 1 on 1 but stop it when they fall to the ice. I just don't get it. I guess I just don't understand the nuances of the sport. I will just leave the sport to you canuckle heads.

The reason the stop the fight when they go to the ground, is mainy because they would then be rolling around on the ice with 4 exposed knives.
As far as fighting not a fan of what it has become. It use to be fights happened, when players were policing themselves now its just not used right IMO.
As far as the game, its all based on an adrenaline rush, if you don't play with one your getting hurt. Plus they play more then once a week 82 games is a workload.

One last thing....I've been to Vancouver and its the most beautiful City i've ever visited...simply awesome. The weather is pretty mild too.
I visited Vancouver on the way to Blackcomb Whistler Ski Resort (where the Olympics were). That is also awesome and gorgeous. Its pretty mild (unlike the Rockies)...they are damn cold and frigid.
