Nice try, but according to the USFL Rules thread, a player cannot be added unless he is an NFL player, meaning he has to be drafted by an NFL team before he is eligible to be picked up....

....per the "Roster Requirements" section of the "Official League Rules"...."Only players that have been eligible for the NFL draft and are now considered NFL players or free agents can be on a USFL roster. That is, no NCAA players may be added to the roster..."
Harvey Unga is no longer an NCAA player and we (the USFL) have had our rookie/FA draft. In my opinion, Unga is fair game as soon as he left/was kicked out of the BYU program because that was subsequent to our USFL draft and he no longer has any NCAA eligibility.
Let's be honest...this can be argued both ways and LM and league members should weigh in on this topic. Perhaps a pole should be conducted as to whether players who may/will go through the supplemental NFL draft are eligible to be drafted after...
Option 1: Once they declare and subsequent to our league draft
Option 2: Once they are "drafted" by an NFL team.
That's my opinion....and he'll probably be a non-factor in the NFL so I'm not overly concerned as to the outcome of this topic. It should be cleared up though to avoid any confusion/conflict in the future.

I need to look up how players become eligible for the supplemental draft and then I will weigh in with some thoughts. Later today or early tomorrow.

Players only enter the Supplemental Draft because they were ineligible for the regular draft or missed the filing date for it for some reason. This means that current players eligible for it are not yet free to sign with any NFL team, or else they would have been signed like any other undrafted free agent. USFL teams will have to wait until these players are drafted by an NFL team or sign a free agent contract with an NFL team to sign them as a free agent here.
Sorry Neil! :-)
"Only players that have been eligible for the NFL draft and are now considered NFL players or free agents can be on a USFL roster. That is, no NCAA players may be added to the roster..." . . . we are going to stick VERY literally to the first part of this rule shown in bold.

I'll make the correction and remove Unga from my roster....Mitchell can just stay a FA, and I'll have an open roster spot.

Fair enough. I'll make the move on the master roster sheet.
