One other thing. Chris asked me what the site was that hosted our league (i.e. yahoo, espn, etc.) and I let him know it was fleaflicker.
Fleaflicker is not very draft friendly (at least it was not last year). If I recall correctly, fleaflicker only allowed 90 seconds max between picks.
We used antsports.com for our intial league draft and then the commisioner transferred each teams players into fleaflicker. Antsports allows twelve hours (I believe). We utilized fleaflicker only because its free.
For the record, it does not matter to me where we have our league (yahoo, espn, etc.).

I am the commish of a league in fleaflicker and I beleive that it will let u chose how much time between picks. I am giving my guys 2min a pick this year in our keeper league. I don't know if the 11 hours thing will work at fleaflicker will work. But overall I think that it is an all around great FF site. And I think that is the site we should host the league with. The live scoring works very well. And is east to use once u brouse around it. The one thing that is so-so is the live draft program thing they use. It works well when u are able to get in. But I know some people that have a hard time getting it to load.

I haven't ever looked into fleaflicker, I will probably do that later today.
The current plan is to run the draft like one of the antsports mock drafts I have been involved in in the past. We plan on having an 8 hour timer per pick with picks allowed, but the timer not running from 11pm to 7am CDT everyday. Since we have 300 players to draft, this process will start within the next week or two once the league is filled.
Draft randomization will be made by draftpicklottery.com
Diehards has mock draft functionality now . . . since so many of us are members there should we run it there?
There is also the possibility that we can run the draft right here on the message board with Chris and I keeping up with the clock, picks and whatnot. This option will create work for me, but no big deal. Also it allows for the fact that if someone gets caught not being able to make their pick in the time limit, they aren't forced to take a computer pick that may not be geared for dynasty, they can just pick a dynasty relevant player when they log on, the penalty being that the draft will continue when they are skipped. I think this is an important distinction that can't be discounted easily.
What do you all think about that?

I am kool with doing the draft right here... if we do then it would make it easier if you do decide to use fleaflicker to host the league... you could just import the players to there team rosters... no hiccups with there draft feature... like you said... more work for you... but things might move smoother that way...

We could increase the timer on antsports.com.
I'm just concerned about multiple teams drafting the same player. Antsports mitigates this.
I'm good with whatever though.

I'm cool with what ever you guys decide. I do like the Idea of Skipping over players that exceed the time limit, Kinda of like the 2003 NFL Draft when my Jaguars stole B. Leftwich only to find out that it was blessing for the Ravens.

Hey guys. Looking to possibly join this league but need a definite where the draft wil be held. If it is Antssports no thanks! That is the worst place IMO! I recomend using MFL for the draft and then just transfer the rosters over to whatever the hosting site will be. MFL is a pay site but i have done what i have mentioned before in other leagues. Just never pay for the site and afte time they just make it inactive. No big deal. But MFL is completely adjustable for owever you want to ste it up. Please decide where you want to draft so I can decide if Im in!!!!!!

How much does MFL.com cost and can we make the time unlimited?

Another thing with antsports, I know that if you miss your pick it makes the pick for you, but it also makes the computer control your team. If we do it on antsports can we lock that feature out so that if we miss 1 pick, we don't have to become computer controlled?

I think that I am going to lean towards drafting here on the boards . . . this will increase the work on me greatly as I will be keeping up with timers and drafted players and everything, but it will also increase the work on you a little as there will not be a simple list of players that you can pick off of the top from, you will all have to do a little research and come up with the names from NFL rosters on your own.
Teams will have 8 hours to pick from the time that the pick before them was made. This timer will not run from the hours of 11pm CDT to 7am CDT. Meaning that if the pick before you is made at 7:04pm CDT you pick will have until 11:04am the next day to be made.
Teams not picking within their alloted time will be designated as a skipped pick. The draft will move forward with the moment their time expired as the moment the clock started on the next pick. These skipped picks are free to pick as soon as they log on and post a player, much like the NFL draft. As soon as they post (get to the podium) their pick is official.
The same procedure will be used with invalid picks. Invalid picks arise when someone takes a player that has already been selected, is already on someone's roster or is otherwise not eligible to be on a USFL roster. For example, if someone drafts Michael Crabtree, WR Texas Tech with one of their picks, that is an invalid pick. Invalid picks will be marked as such when they are discovered and a PM will be sent to the owner(s) who made the invalid pick. Those who make invalid picks are not punished in any way except that their pick is treated as a skipped pick. They are free to log on and make another pick at any time, but the clock will keep running onthe later picks in the draft. Multiple invalid picks have no penalties, but I would ask you to try and limit them by doing good research beforehand . . . you do have 8 hours afer all.
Picks will be made by post (much like the Diehards mock draft earlier this spring) and there will be both a master list (handy in combination with CTRL+F to limit invalid picks) and a discussion thread included so that the pick thread will be kept relatively clean.
Trading of individual picks in the initial draft will not be allowed, however, after seeing your draft position you can get someone to trade their ENTIRE DRAFT for yours before either of your first picks are made. After the first pick is made, you are LOCKED IN to that draft spot.
What does everyone think of those draft guidelines? I may add more as I think of them as subsequent posts.

My main concern is someone getting stuck with a player that is useless or not what they wanted in a dynasty format and then not being able to change it because of the site we are using. I would rather do it here and do the extra work and make sure that everyone makes the picks that they want, though not necessarily at the times they want.

I'm down with all of your suggestions regarding posting our picks on this site, timers, and trading your spot with another willing team prior to the draft starting.
Let me know how I can help or if any other input is needed.

Obviously I'll have to go with whatever is decided, but I think I'd really prefer to draft through some kind of online draft room as opposed to just on the message board. I just think it will be a lot tougher to keep track of who's been selected on the message board then it would be on a real draft room. I think I'd even prefer to see if we can find out a day and time that would work for everyone and just get the draft done in one afternoon. With 3 months before the season starts it wouldn't be that hard to do I don't think.
