I actually don't care either way if my trade gets veto'd. I have learned a dynasty league needs to have a slew of "YOUNG" pieces to be able to withstand the aging guys that seem to fall off quickly. Before this season started I couldn't get a 4th round pick for Steve Smith in the leagues that I own him in, now he looks good, but for how long?? Stud WR's last until around 34-35 (Steve Smith 33), stud RB's 30 (Gore 29).
IMO, Maclin is the true # 1 in Philly, and is only 23, should make him "The Guy" in Philly for a very long time. Sanders is also very young, and I suspect will take over for Ward next year, as we all know Big Ben is young and likes to throw. Jury still out on him, I'm betting he becomes a very good WR # 2 for a long time!
I would not have done the deal for just those players (Gore and Smith), due to their short shelf life, thus why I threw in the Hernandez part. It should be worth pointing out that Neil had a previous deal (Just learned this today) on the table where he was giving up Gore and Smith for just (1) young stud WR (better than Maclin?), but at the end that owner was not willing to do the deal and give up his YOUNG stud WR, which should somewhat validate the importance of the "YOUNG" studs in a dynasty league....
Again, I am not going to lose a wink of sleep with this if it doesn't go through, my team is STACKED and YOUNG, which should make me a viable contender for MANY years w/o this trade!

Ok . . . so officially . . . Banana King for everybody . . . before this goes too far.
Bill, Neil . . . your trade is approved. It was submitted so early and was self-proclaimed as a "Mega-Deal" so I sent the following PM to everybody but you two and Chuck:
Hey everyone. Bill and Neil (Force and Outlaws) just made a self proclaimed "mega-trade" on the USFL site and I was going to go through the ho-hum of approving it and all, but I thought it would be more fun to give them a hard time for a couple of days before putting it through. So I am going to post some non-committal, "Trade is under league review" BS and you guys give them a hard time about it being unbalanced for fun. If you like. We'll let the trade go through sometime tomorrow so that waivers aren't affected. Have some fun. Bill, Neil and Chuck were all left off of this PM because they are related somehow I think. Let's have a little chuckle!!
The safety word to call off the fun and let it go will be "Banana King" . . . when I post that in the trade thread the joke will be over . . . in case it goes too far.
So that's it . . . a little bit of league-wide ribbing. You know we are all football savvy here and we don't really complain when we have teams that are trying to improve in some way.
So . . . GOTCHA!!!!
I give MVP honors to Phish for going overboard with the Banana King references in support of your trade. It was hilarious to me.

Alright, alright, alright.......you fuckers got us pretty good. That was pretty damn funny and it was a bur under both of our saddles...but, we both agreed we wouldn't get pissed too much because we love this league. It did seem a bit surreal to both of us though that the trade would be vetoed.
For the record, Bill and I are Bro-in-Laws....our wives are sisters...not "Sister Wives".....Chuck is just a buddy of both of ours....although he seems to be awol way too much for this league.

That was funny... because it didn't happen to me. Hilarrious!!! For the record Bill, i really regret not going thru with the deal we had nearly in place with Neil. Time will tell if it would have helped us in the very near future. I was nearly APE $hit over the offer, but Mark was against it....now our player will get some career ending injury or something awful...kinda like Jason Campbell...damn straight he owns him!! Good trade, and it looks like now that we didnt do the deal we will continue our building process |
