Don't sleep on Barber folks . . . he will be an every down back, they aren't gonna put Felix in on 3rd downs. My ranking in non-PPR re-draft are LT, AP, Westy, SJax, Addai, Barber, Portis, Gore . . . I would use that list and go RB/RB the first two rounds . . . you will probably McGahee, LJ, Grant or Jamal Lewis as your RB2 . . . although if it is Grant or Jamal you might see if Moss/TO/Wayne is available as the difference between Grant or Jamal and Thomas Jones or Michael Turner might not be that much . . . and those two should be available at your 3rd round pick . . . though Jamal might drop that far too.

I agree with the Barber evaluation. I think people are downplaying him because he isn't a household name. If he gets just an extra 50 touches, he can be at the level of a Joseph Addai. The touchdowns are there. He just needs the extra yards. As for the swing, beware of the RB/RB. I know you can get a quality second RB there but take it from a guy who has picked at the end of all 3 drafts he's been in this year - you can't get a real #1 WR at the end of the third round unless people don't know what they're doing and they skip on a Housh or Steve Smith, since his suspension is on. You'll be lucky if a guy like Plaxico or Chad Johnson falls to you.

That's what I like to hear... a healthy discusion. I'm afraid of Portis. There is something about him that scares me. I hear ya. People are gushing on Portis this year as if he is do for this monster year. I don't get it. He's got almost twice as many carries as LJ and much more of an injury history and nack for getting banged up... so I see Portis as a high risk/high reward guy. Of the guys mentioned, I think Barber and Lynch should be on the short list.

You should know better, being a Dallas fan. Barber will absolutely not be an every-down RB. He is certainly 1 of the better RBs in the league, but his style of hard-nosed running leaves the coaching staff and Jerry Jones concerned about his health. Please explain to me why they would draft 1 of the top 4 RBs in the first round of the NFL draft, a guy who is more talented than Julius Jones, just to have him sit on the bench? It is quite obvious that they plan to use Barber exactly the same as they did when JJ was there, except Barber will actually be the starter this time. He will get around 250 total touches, and of course have a very nice TD total somewhere in the mid-teens. I see Barber as more of an early 2nd round pick, and certainly not a mid-1st round pick. He will be a very, very good RB but not elite. I like all of Portis, Lynch, & Gore ahead of Barber because they will touch the ball a lot more. If Addai falls to you, your choice is simple. If not, it would be wise to choose between Portis and Lynch. Gore could very well be elite, but there are a lot of questions about how the talent around him will affect him, and his 70+ catches won't count in non-PPR.

Just as a side note to my above post, the Dallas running game will be improved and the reports I have read says that Felix is very impressive in camp and the coaches want to make sure to give him a good number of reps. That, along w/ Barber running better and possibly getting a few more touches, should mean the passing game may take a dip this year, which means Romo, TO, and Witten probably won't match last year's numbers.

Romo might be ok as the plan is to put Jones and Barber in the same backfield often with Jones playing a Reggie Bush type role while Barber does more of a Deuce-type thing. Meaning that Felix will take some of those catches from Witten, Barber and TO . . . but Romo will add another weapon to throw to. So for a dip from TO and Witten I would say yes . . . but I think Romo will stay pretty steady.

D-Town, I couldn't agree more with your assessment of Barber's role this year. I have him in a keeper league, however, he is my 6th round pick so I'm not at all worried. I agree he ranks all the way pick 12-14 in my mind, not 5-7 as most are placing him!

In watching video to finalize my pick 1.01 in KJNL I was most impressed with Felix Jones. I couldn't take him though with Barber being there. Mendenhall was the next most impressive followed by Chris Johnson. I just worry about Johnson's durability.
But yeah....F. Jones modestly reduces the value of Barber to the 11th - 14th RB range.
