I think if Detroit signs Culpepper it would be as big a mistake as one that would be made if Millen were still there. Culpepper or any veteran brought to win a couple of games and hurt your draft position is NOT what you need. What you need to do is give Drew Stanton an 8-9 game look to see what you really have there and decide whether you need to invest one of your two first round picks on a QB or if you can use the both shoring up O-line and D . . . that's what the Lions need to do with the rest of this year . . . write off winning and use the remaining games to evaluate your available talent. Kitna is never going to play for you again after what you did to him and Orlovsky has proven to not be the answer and is in a contract year anyways. That being said . . . Culpepper is a good fit in KC . . . they have proven over and over that no one on their current roster is the QB of the future . . . sign C-Pepp to the two year deal that he wants and keep runninghim out there the rest of this year and all of next year letting your #1 or #2 draft pick QB learn the system behind him for a year . . . then the old C-Pepp says good bye, Gonzo gives way to Cottam, LJ to Jamaal Charles and Bowe stays on board . . . and you have your prototypical young and growing up together quality NFL offensive skill players. Irvin, Aikman, Smith, Novacek type or Peyton, Harrison, Edge and Clark . . . KC just needs to bridge that time in between. Long winded opinion . . . but I have been looking to type it out somewhere.

I totally agree but KC won't win a thing with Herm there.

I agree with you but that would work to make them a better team and maybe not a better business. The Lions as a team need to continue losing and have their pick of the litter at draft time. The Lions as a business need to win a game fast. I'm sure most of you guys heard already, but ticket sales for their last game against Washington were so bad, that they didn't even air the game on local television. freep.com/article/20081028/COL01/310280004/1049/SPORTS01 Signing Culpepper for this year and next might not be a bad idea. Stanton should play, but if you think about it, this is like his rookie season. He was on IR all last year so he couldn't even practice. Bringing in Culpepper lets you have a name at the QB spot that people will wanna watch, as well as gives Stanton the two years of practice he will probably need to become a starting caliber QB.

It was the first game "blacked-out" at Ford field, and most Lions fans couldn't be happier. WC Ford has run the Lions organization more like a business, rather than an NFL franchise. He has never given a shit how good the Lions were, only how much money they made for him. This blackout shoud be a wakeup call for him, and gives him the clue that the 3+ million Lions fans are finally fed up enough that there are less than 60,000 of those 3+ million fans willing to by tickets for the games. Maybe he will finally realize he needs a verteran staff (GM, coaches, etc) who has had success to run the Lions, so he may keep his pockets fat.
