So i got fortunate WVU played at the rock(the home of the NJ devils, and for today the Seton hall pirates). As you could guess by going to a road game i was seated next to the home team fans. You know normally their would be friendly smash talking unless both were trashed.
So getting to the point i sat next to this father and his two sons, one son was like 5 the other was like 12. The father was talking shit on wv being hicks and whatever. I was seated next to the five year old, the entire first half the kid is poking me and telling me wv sucks, im waiting for the father to stop it. so finally at the end of the half i look at the father, and say your son is about to witness you getting your ass kicked, and i got called a dick by all the fans for being so mean to a family at a game with their children just trying to have fun.
Did i go to far or should the kids father of told his kid to shut up

i mean i kept giving the father a look like are you serious, and he just kept smiling like he had the worlds greatest son. you cant trash talk with a child, it goes back to the adage of pick on someone your own size, and if a father is going to put someone in that position he should understand what that outcome could possibly be

Agreed....but I understand where your coming from Gregg. I never let my kids tease or mess with any adult or teenager. I'm big on respecting your elders. You should just be a little lighter, but something should still have been said. So many parents are their kids friends and not their parents. Its called the pussification of society. If that dad had walnuts, he would've said that was enough and made his kids apoligize. My kids are smart asses and you have to keep them in check. Its as simple as that.

If the kid was literally poking you, that is ridiculous and the dad should've stopped it. Sounded like maybe he did deserve at least a verbal beatdown.
I would've asked nicely with a sir, please, and thank you, and if he didn't make his kid stop, then I would've told him off and been ready to throw down if needed.

Its the parents job, plus i will look like a huge jackass yelling at a kid. I wanted the father to realize that was not acceptable and be a father and he failed. I really believe that common courtesy is no longer around in the society we live in.
