In a big $ league, where Neil and I won the championship last week ( $ 1,335), we are playing for a high point week # 17, where you can start anyone (not just the players on your team), was wondering what everyone's thoughts were this week, as far as best per position?
Line up requirements are:
(1) QB (1-2) RB's (2-3) WR's (1) TE (1) K (1) D
My initial thought:
QB - Matt Schaub RB1 - Chris Johnson RB2 - Ray Rice WR1 - Andre Johnson WR2 - Wes Welker TE - Brent Celek K- David Akers D - 49ers
Thanks! Any feedback is greatly appreciated, the scoring is essentially same as the USFL .....

Well...I concur, after I did my own research. That was the lineup I came up with before I noticed you posted it here.
Arguments could be made to start M. Austin/B. Marshall instead of R. Rice, but Rice is the safer play.
Another strong consideration is V. Davis instead of Celek, but Laurinitis will limit Davis IMO.
With SJAX and Avery likely to miss the game and Null starting, the 49ers defense is the no-brainer. Don't be surprised to see the Bears defense (against the hapless) Lions put up a big number. The 49ers is the safe play...they have really excelled against piss poor team...and the Rams are the epitome of piss poor!

Looks good to me, tho i may be tempted to switch Rothlisberger in for Shaub and N.Kaeding for Akers. Others look very good. Sounds like B.Marshall tweaked his hammy pretty bad in practice so he wouldnt be an option anymore.

Schaub is consistently good to spectactular...thus the selection. Brady was second to Schaub in our rankings, but then we realized that the Pats have nothing to play for. Kaeding was an option too, but, again, SD doesn't have anything to play for and we figure that Volek and the rest of the 2nd teamers will play at lot, thus reducing the value of Kaeding. We thought about Marshall, but R. Rice in a PPR is just too much of a stud against the Raidaz in a must win for the Ravens. In addition, AJ and Welker play against less than spectacular defenses (each other's teams) that will allow alot of completions in what figures to be a shoot out with New Englands young and depleted secondary vs the Texans all-of-a-sudden strong run defense--lead by Pollard and Cushing (sorry...run on sentence).

Agreed, My logic with Kaeding was more of...w/o Rivers and co. how much more likely for the bolts to have to settle for FG's? even tho he is still the best with the full starters going. Akers is a very good matchup and kicking in Dallas. After thinking it over, i must say...dont ever take my advice when it comes to Kickers. In GEDL i started M.Prater every week cept his bye week, and tried to get cute picking up Graham AND starting him in the championship game....difference= 5pts. Lose by 1.2 pts. I hate Shane Graham!!! LOL Good Luck, should be great with that lineup!!

Gotta start V Davis over Celek. Prater or Kaeding are you kickers to choose from.

We ended up playing Sidney Rice over Wes Welker (Damn good thing!), but ultimately Ray Rice and Akers cost us the win.
The winners line up was:
B Favre, QB MIN vs NYG 31.80 C Johnson, RB TEN at SEA 30.00 F Gore, RB SFO at STL 27.00 M Austin, WR DAL vs PHI 16.10 S Rice, WR MIN vs NYG 29.20 V Davis, TE SFO at STL 20.90 R Longwell, PK MIN vs NYG 14.60 S 49ers, DT SFO at STL 15.00
Total Points 184.60
