My idea is to break it up by geography. We would have to move 2 teams a bit to make the divisions fair, but its not a big leap. Here is what it would look like
West: Fog City(CA) Outlaws(CA) Crush(CA) Hellfire(TX)
Central: Irish(IL) Pimps(IN) M357's(MN) Phish(Canada)
East: Wildcats(FL) Dragons(NJ) Generals(NJ) Undertow(MI)
Technically Phish should be in the East and the Undertow the Central, but that would make the East kind of weak and the Central stacked. This is also based on the fact I think that Undertow is further east then the Pimps. I would need the exact cities of both to make sure. My feeling is that the Pimps and Undertow are both really good teams, and if one is further East then the other, we could switch them around. The way I have the divisions set up,each division would have 2 playoff teams from last year. Ok,please feel free to rip on my idea.

this works for me i have no complaints, actually pretty even.
I think its going to be impossible to even them out "fairly" to everyone's standards this is something that i think is pretty reasonable . If we voted on this id vote yes

Divisions meh . . . the real question is number of playoff and how we are going to schedule. If we want to keep 6 playoff teams then why are we switching? If we are switching to three divisions are we switching to 4 playoff teams? That's the central question.

If we switch to 3 divisions we get to play every team but one, unlike now where we don't play 3 teams.... we could have playoffs from weeks 14 to 16...which would be 6 teams making the playoffs. Top 2 division winners would get a bye, with the remaining division winner playing the lowest wildcard, just like the NFL. We could also have week 1 as a doubleheader week, then we would play every team. I don't think the doubleheader is neccesary, but we could do it if the majority wants it.

and with 5 or 6 playoff teams, owners will stay involved longer.

I don't think we have to worry about owners in the league staying involved. My preference is to play every team w/o double headers, which I think the plan Brad laid out did.
I see no significance to geography, my preference would be to be sure the balance remains as fair as possible within the divisions, which is also why I think it's important to "re-shuffle" each year based on the point totals from prior year.

It seems as though we are moving toward some format of division reshuffling, which would render the idea of regional divisions unnecessary. Good idea, though, but having 3 divisions increases the likelihood of a weak division winner, so having the reshuffling option to encourage parity should be necessary.

I don't understand why we have to play everyone once. I am not saying that people wouldn't be turning in lineups, but if I am 4-6 after week 10,and I have no shot at making the playoffs,I am not going to follow this league as much as I would if I still had a chance at making the playoffs. So what if we have a weak division winner,it happens all the time in football. The year the Arizona Cardinals went to the Super Bowl,I believe they were a weak division winner with a 9-7 record.

OK, Here is my two cents. You all know about my crappy money league that I was in. We had 3 divisions of 4 teams each. We had a double header in week 11 which I thought sucked. We also picked new divisions each year. This one guy and I were in the same division for 4 years straight and it made a little rivalry.
We should have 3 divisions of 4 teams and no double header week. We just have to make sure we play that team the next year. I also think we should keep the same divisions every year. 6 teams in the playoffs.
I was looking at Hellfire this year and last as someone I wanted to finish ahead of. The little rivalries that will spring up will give the league a little something extra. How weak or strong the divisions are will fluctuate as each season is played and how people manage their teams. Are Rob or P1mp really going to be bottom feeders forever? I don't think so. Who thought The Wildcats would win in our first year?
I believe if you do it this way then the league will run smoothly.
Thanks for listening.
Peter

The whole reason for switching to a 3 division format is to be able to play everybody at least once, which would mean either a double header or a 4 team playoff. If we do 3 divisions, nave 6 team playoffs still, and no double header, there would still be 1 team we won't play in a season. My point about this is if there is still a team we don't get to play, why bother switching to 3 divisions?
I think we should either do a 3 division format, that allows us to play everybody each season, or we keep it at 2 divisions and change nothing.

I suggest we do one last poll....keep it as is or 3 dvisions and 4 playoff teams. Nobody seems to be down with double headers.
