Bull give 3 2009 Fourth rounds picks (Machine, Force, Bulls) and David Patten (WR- NO)
SwampDragons give Hines Ward (WR-Pit)
This trade was modified by LM (Hellfire) to reflect the actual deal put forward by the two teams.

There has been a protest to this trade . . . it will remain open for 48 hours for a league-wide discussion.

I don't understand the trade either. I am not vetoing it right now, I just don't see the logic in it. Why does any team need to have 9 draft picks? Are you going to drop 9 players from your team? Please enlighten me if you can Dragons.

I really don't understand the problem, H Ward is 32 years old and Swamp is getting 3 4ths, If you guys like I'm gonna have to drop a player I can just add this player to the trade to make it look better on paper........

There have been worse trades made, a few of which were made by Swamp Dragons. This one may not be logical, but it's not bad enough to be vetoed. It's not like he traded P Rivers for 3 4th rounders ;D. I vote to accept.

Please enlighten me if you can Dragons. Ditto with the above...I also partially concur with Undertow in that worse trades have been made; we probably don't want to open up Pandora's Box here. But I'd like to expand on Renegade's question....Why would you acquire 3 low round picks in exchange for a proven WR2/3 who has several years left when you have 6 picks already? Hell, I would have paid more for H. Ward than that. I would've given you a 2nd rounder which is more valuable for your predicament. I'm not going to vote right now, but those are my feelings. I will vote within the 48 hour window though.

As a possible answer to the low pick question . . . perhaps 2 for 1 deals to upgrade some of his earlier picks? As the owner of some 12 or so picks myself I can see how that might be a desirable thing. I didn't see a problem with the trade . . . but I am open to hearing opinions on the matter.
Outlaws point that he would have paid more for Ward doesn't prove anything except that the Dragons forgot to comparison shop and liked the price he was getting already.

Essentially, Hines Ward was traded for "3 fliers" and that's not right.
I understand Brad's 2 for 1 trade up philosophy, but you can't just assume that will take place. You have to take the trade for its face value. When Brad acquired the seven extra picks they were done via multiple trades with other acquired players.
If Dragons traded some no namer for 3 4'ths it wouldn't bother me, but Hines Ward is more valuable than that.
That's why I'm going to put a "veto" vote in for this trade.

I know I'm biased cause I'm involved in the trade and willing to add a player to make it look better on paper. But I don't really understand whats the big deal Their has been worse trades. It's not about what you would of paid for H Ward/or the reason to have extra draft picks. The fact is Dragons has enough WRs to sell off OLDER ones for picks, are we really gonna dispute what the price of tea is in china??

The main problem with this league is people put too much value on players. NO player should be untouchable (no pun intended). I look at my team now and see a plethora of young WR's, 2 decent RBs and an OK 2QBs with upside (one rookie). I would like to get Romo or LT away from the Bulls, and I've offered other people trades that they thought were unfair. (yeah I wish I kept Boldin or Fitz but I was afraid of the Qb issue in ARZ) I really wated to join this league because I watched Mestifo, Untouchablez, Nino, Phish and others on diehards and really wanted to put myself against the best. Getting stuck with the 12th pick hurt. (not my feelings ;D) I didn't like either of my RBs. Maybe I should have gone a different way. So I decided to go young. Obviously I'm not winning it this year. But if Turner and Garrard can be consistent, Slaton and my rookie WR's should put me in it in a year or two. I'm just saying you guys need to lighten up on your players. It's fantasy football. I take it just as serious as you guys, but I also like to have fun. I have gotten gruff and nasty responses back when I sent some trade proposals. Ok if they weren't to your liking, but it was like you took personal offense to it. I'll tell you this...In two years time the championship will be mine!

I sent this to the Generals today in an IM when he asked about protesting and the picks:
Rookie players taken with picks 37-48 in KJNL (there were some FA's in there too) . . . Derek Hagan, Tim Hightower, John David Booty, Tashard Choice, Mike Hart, Martellus Bennett, Chancey Washington, Colt Brennan, Dexter Jackson, Dustin Keller, Matt Prater . . . I think there is some value there
In addition . . . players taken after that point include: Earl Bennett, Andre Caldwell and Adrian Arrington . . . is there really anyone in the league that if they were at the bottom of their division wouldn't trade Hines Ward for any of those three names listed above? I am voting for upholding the trade as there was no collusion going on which is my only reason for voting against trades.
That makes the official tally so far . . . 3 to 3 with no votes yet from Phish, Crush, Wolfboys (one vote per team please) and TD Machine
