Brad, The site this morning indicated in a big red box the trade deadline is today? I just looked through the rules to be sure that is what was discussed? The only thing I see talks about trades are ok at all times (meaning no deadline) Can you shed some light so we know what's going on, perhaps there was a follow up thread somewhere that I couldn't find? Thanks!

It might be an artifact of the ESPN system, but it does make sense to limit trades this close to the playoffs . . . thus no roster stacking.
However, having re-read the specific rules they do say that trades are allowable at anytime.
Feel free to discuss and we'll make a permanent ruling together.

All trades should be stopped except mine. JK all trades should at least end before the playoffs and there should be no add/drop during the plyoffs. just my opinion. GO ME!!!

I don't disagree with no trading as the playoffs start. How about the trade deadline coincides with the first kickoff of week # 13??

I can agree with trades stopping during the playoffs but I disagree with not picking guys up during the playoff run. What if one or two of your players get hurt? You'll just be doomed to whoever is on your team. That being said, I believe non-playoff teams should have a fair shot at the waivers too.

That is what I meant with my post, stopping TRADES, not free agent pick ups!
Certainly the way Brad set up waiver pick ups should stand: Which states (as I understand it) that the free agent picks ups lock before the kickoff of the championship game. It actually reads at the end of the game, but we all know by now that waivers is set up once the ball leaves the tee of the first game of the week.......

Agree w/TD Machine and FCF. Allow FA pickups until our playoffs end and freeze them until our draft. Put a halt on trades during weeks 14 - 16 (our playoffs). This ensures an active offseason while maintaining viable FA's for our rookie/FA draft.

I was referring to the Dragons post when it came to free agent pick ups.

I just got screwed in a baseball league where the guy kept picking players so he uped his stats to beat me. I guess it wouldn't work in football.

It is absolutely unquestionable that FA pickups are allowed during the playoffs, up to the kickoff of week 16's Sunday games. However, we should have a clause that prohibits eliminated teams from playing the WW. As far as the trade deadline goes, I have it set up in my league to be at the kickoff of the last regular season week (week 13), Sunday games, not Thursday games. I am fully supportive of that kind of deadline, which allows trading as much, and as late as possible. However, if we do agree to keep the deadline during this week, before the week 12 games, it should absolutely be on Sunday, before the games, not in the middle of the week. I never negotiate trades during games, but rather, wait for the week's games to end. Sometimes, trade negotiations can take 3 or 4 days, and if some members start negotiating on Monday or Tuesday, before the Wednesday noon deadline, they may either need to rush negotiations, or not finalize them before the early deadline. I find it pointless to have the deadline in the middle of a week, rather than at the end, no matter what week it is. Your Points Leader has spoken.

However, we should have a clause that prohibits eliminated teams from playing the WW. I totally disagree in a dynasty/keeper league with the above; in a redraft league this is understandable.

I agree with Outlaws on this matter. You never know who the next waiver wire to turn fantasy stud might be and it would suck to miss out on him because you didn't make the playoffs. On the other hand, I would agree to giving playoff teams (that are still alive) priority in free agent pick ups during playoff time, if that's possible. That way, you can prevent people from messing with playoff teams by not allowing them to pick up decent players.

So what I am getting as a consensus (mostly anyways) opinion is that the trade deadline should be Sunday kickoff of week 13 and FA deadline should be Sunday kickoff of week 16 with waivers continuing throughout the FA period . . . Rosters will be frozen for FA pick-ups from championship week kickoff until our 2009 rookie/FA draft, but trades will be unlocked again after the championship is decided.
