how about the Monday after the NFL draft concludes? At least then we know where everyone is going barring a late trade. Isn't that right about when our draft starts anyways?

I say April 15....that's tax day and two weeks (approx) before the draft. That seems to be the middle ground. For the record I'm also cool with Derek's suggestions too, but my rationale behind this date is that it allows for some pre-NFL draft negotiations, allows the impact of NFL FA to be digested and analyzed, allows for players who were injured last year to recover and gain some of their value back, and is also far enough away from the Superbowl to allow the downtime desired by some of the Team Owners.

I think I have made my opinion pretty obvious. The earlier we can trade future draft picks the better. However, unless a majority votes otherwise, I think the perfect middle ground would be April 1. That would be a compromise on my behalf, and that would be a simple date to remember. Neil, even though I have accountancy coursing through my family bloodlines (I never desired to tap into that potential), I think the 1st of the month is much easier for all to remember, if we do a non-NFL related date.

OK . . . even though April 1st has passed I am allowing myself some time to have forgotten about this issue while a lot of other things are going on.
Here is the current question as I see it, there will be a poll up shortly.
We can start trading 20x+1 draft picks on either April 1st or about a week before the draft. For order's sake I am going to set permanent dates for all items. The USFL draft will always start on May 1st. Whatever day that is, unless the NFL moves their draft to be later than that. We can start trading draft picks on April 1st or on the start day of the NFL draft. Please vote above. Thanks!

I like April 1st. I think going with April 1st for trading picks and May 1st every year for the draft will keep things simple. That way we know every year when we will start.

I voted start of NFL Draft, for the simple reason its way easier to remember (and its only 3 weeks different, so it really shouldn't be any different)!

how is the start of the draft, which is different each year, easier then April 1st? Trading opens April 1,draft starts May 1st.....pretty easy. plus some years that may only give us 4 or 5 days to trade before the draft.

just my opinion (and someone elses) leading 2 to 1? I don't see how this date will have any effect on anything, if someone really needs a block buster trade, it could certainly be done and then posted "officially" when the draft starts?
I just think for a lot of people the season really starts when the NFL draft starts (Not me I unfortunately am on this 365 days a year)....
I'm fine with whatever the vote dictates!

The more that I think about it, later is better. Although, what do I care... I don't really make trades anyway. =P

lot of respect for Huggins tonight when Butler got hurt. When Huggins went out there and got emotional like that,it showed me how much he loves his kids. That is the kind of coach I would want to play for,and the kind of coach that I try to be!

I'm sorry I'm so late voting on this.. I voted Yes, but like force said it's really not that huge of a diffrence.. I think trading future draft picks are fine, but it really should only that a team can trade the very next season picks.. Going any further a head an it might get crazy
